MQM Founder Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for presenting senior ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain handcuffed in the court. He called it a despotic act on the part of the provincial government of KPK.
In a statement Mr Hussain said, “Every country, nation, or tribe has its own distinctive customs. They have their own ways of expressing their griefs and happiness but giving respect to the elders is a common trait among all. All societies in the world teach their younger generation to give respect to their elders.”
“The law has its requirements that are usually rigid, but even the law shows softness and flexibility for senior citizens.”
Mr Hussain said he was shocked and grieved when he saw senior ANP leader Iftikhar Hussain being brought to the court in a jail vehicle thatis usually used for bringing hardened criminals. He was not only brought in this vehicle but also presented in the court with handcuffs. Every Pakistani can understand the arrogance of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and KPK Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on this shameful deed.
Mr Hussain demanded President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to use his presidential powers for exempting Mian Iftikhar Hussain from coming to court in handcuffs.
He also appealed to human rights activists and political and social leaders to raise their voice against handcuffing Mian Iftikhar Hussain.
