Artists Driven Out by Soaring Rents
Artists in Seoul have always found hidden alcoves with cheap rents to practice their art in. However, as the neighborhoods they developed become famous attractions, large franchises start to come in. With the rise in popularity, rents begin to soar, making it impossible for the artists who founded the neighborhood to stay. We look into the paradox of artists being unable to afford the trendy neighborhoods they founded.
