The U.S. State Department announced that it has removed Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. This Friday the deadline expired for Congress to override President Obama’s decision to take Cuba off that list. People on the streets in Cuba say, “It’s about time they opened their eyes. We’ve had to withstand this injustice for too long.” While for Cuba the measure was a necessary step towards opening embassies and normalizing relations, a State Department spokesperson said that the two processes are separate.
