A commander of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia Roman Ruiz was killed alongside four other militants after government forces bombed their position in the Choco region. The attack came just hours after the guerrilla group’s negotiator announced that the government airstrikes represented a setback for peace talks. In response to the airstrike that killed 26 guerrillas earlier this month, the FARC suspended a unilateral cease-fire that it had sustained for five months and continues to call on the government to observe a bilateral ceasefire. President Juan Manuel Santos called for dialogue and an end to retaliations. teleSUR
