Georgia is eager to become a member of the EU as soon as possible. The country faces tough economic challenges. Main trade partners and neighboring countries such as Russia and Turkey are apparently refusing to accept Georgian products on political grounds. The EU could provide an escape. German companies are exploring Georgia as a gateway to markets in the Caucasus.
