Three hundred heavily armed gunmen forcibly disappeared 30 residents in which they occupied parts of the city of Chilapa in the southwestern Mexican state of Guerrero during a five day period. Close to 300 people have been reported missing in the area since July 2014, including the 43 Ayotzinapa students. The gunmen, who are reportedly linked to the Los Ardillos drug cartel, claim to be community police. Chilapa has become a symbol of the widespread insecurity, violence, and corruption that plague entire parts of Mexico. Clayton Conn reports from Mexico City. teleSUR
