Thirteen are confirmed dead with at least 50 missing in the aftermath of the oil tanker train derailment in Quebec's Lac-Megantic township. Authorities suspect some victims may have been vapourised by the crude oil oxygenated blasts that levelled three city blocks in the town.

Much of the site is still inaccessible to investigators as rescue workers struggle to stabilise remaining oil tanker cars 60 hours after the derailment to ensure there are no further explosions or fires.
