The USDA has released the results of its annual survey on the state of honeybee colonies, and the news is far from good.

The USDA has released the results of its annual survey on the state of honeybee colonies, and the news is far from good.


They reported that between April of 2014 and April of 2015 the number of thriving colonies has fallen over 40% amongst the roughly 6 thousand beekeepers who participated in the survey.

 Why nearly half of the survey group’s honeybees perished is unknown. The group represents about 15 percent of the country’s managed bee colonies.
