Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI are searching for a killer who perpetrated what has been called, a random act of road rage. The driver of a black pickup truck is sought in connection with the shooting death of 28 year old Maine resident, Timothy Davison. Davison was driving back to Poland, Maine, from Florida, where he spent the holidays, when he got into a car vs car altercation with another driver on I-81 in Maryland, some time around 2am Saturday. He called 911 for help, but the call was dropped and he was unable to reconnect until he passed the Pennsylvania border.
He told the dispatcher he was being chased and shot at by a black pickup. Damage to Davison's silver SUV indicate the pickup rammed its driver side door into the SUV as well as ramming it. Three miles past the Pennsylvania border, Davison's SUV was driven off the road into a snowy median where it got stuck. Police say the driver or a passenger then got out of the black pickup, approached Davison's vehicle, and shot him to death.
Investigators are trying to determine whether another shooting that took place hours earlier, 30 miles away, and involving a similar truck might be related. Nobody was injured in that shooting. Police have not said whether Davison revealed any further information about his killers in the 911 recording. An autopsy was scheduled to take place Monday.
