Two men stole the coin machine at a bookstore and harmed a shop assistant in Obu Aichi on Monday morning. The pair are still at large and police are say they face charges of robbery and bodily injury.

While the pair were taking off with a coin machine containing 50,000 Japanese yen (US$ 500) from a local bookstore, the shop assistant heard them and rushed to the car park, where he saw the men putting the machine in their car's trunk. He got as far as the passenger's door, to stop the thieves, but the pair suddenly tried to drive off. They dragged the clerk four meters. This resulted in minor injuries to his hands and legs. The pair wore identical black down jackets and fled the car park in a white sedan.
