This may be the dumbest thing you've seen all year. On Wednesday night a California Highway Patrol police officer arrested a fireman attending to a serious car crash on Interstate 805 because his firetruck was blocking a traffic lane.

It was around 9 p.m. and first responders were on the scene of a crash in which a white sedan flipped over a concrete barrier.

The patrol officer told firefighters to begin moving their three trucks from the fast lane, and two complied.

While a victim was being attended to, fireman Jacob Gregoire was checking the vehicle for survivors.
The knucklehead officer then told Gregoire - who'd parked his firetruck across the lane to create a safety zone, consistent with his training - to move his truck.

He refused and told the officer he would continue working.

As a TV news camera rolled capturing the bizarre scene the officer cuffed Gregoire and dumped him in a patrol car, but not before putting the 12-and-a-half-year veteran fireman through the additional indignity of checking his pockets.

After half-an-hour he was released without explanation. The police officer has reportedly not been reprimanded for the incident and the Chula Vista Fire Department is standing by their man.

The two later agencies released a join statement putting it down to poor communication. Men involved agencies were doing their job according to the rules. So while the cop's behavior was in line with regulations, was it justified?
