Argentina bus crash kills at least 18 near Mendoza

At least 18 people were killed in Argentina after a bus crashed into a truck driving on the wrong side of the highway.

The crash occurred as the bus was nearing the western city of Mendoza on highway that connects Buenos Aires with Santiago in neighboring Chile.

The truck had a Brazilian license plate and was stolen, according to local reports. It was being driven down the highway at a high speed.

Video recorded by a driver shows the truck driving the wrong side of the Number 7 national road minutes before the crash.

The bus and the truck immediately burst into flames upon impact, killing many of the victims, including the bus driver. The driver of the truck was also killed.

Witnesses said some passengers attempted to escape the flames by jumping off the vehicles windows.

The authorities said there were 30 people passengers on the bus. The bus left from the city of Cordoba, about 660km northeast of Mendoza.
