At least 13 people were killed and more than 20 others were wounded in a triple grenade attack in Peshawar, Pakistan, on Tuesday (February 11).

According to the Daily Times, three Chinese-made grenades were thrown into the Shama cinema during an afternoon screening. One was hurled into the front row of the theatre, the second and third landed in the middle and back rows. It is reported that about 100 to 150 people were present inside the cinema at the time of the attack.

The Washington Post reported that one of the grenades exploded near the main door, while two others exploded inside the theatre as about 80 people were watching a movie called "Yarana", meaning friendship in Pashto. The targeted cinema is known for showing adult-rated movies, but also shows regular films.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack, which coincided with peace talks between representatives of the government and Taliban insurgents in Islamabad. The attack also came after a similar attack at Picture House Cinema in Peshawar in less than 10 days.
