Over a month after flight MH370 vanished from the skies, the search area for the Malaysian Airlines' plane has been significantly narrowed.
Searchers looking for flight MH370 have narrowed their focus to a roughly 58,000 square kilometer area almost 1,700 kilometers northwest of Perth, Australia.
The massive international search effort includes 14 planes and 13 ships.
The ship Ocean Shield is continuing its mission of dragging a U.S. Navy pinger locator through the deep seas.
The black box is assumed to be located some 4,500 meters below the sea, and unless a positive identification is made soon, the plane's 'black box' flight recorders could run out of battery power.
Should the batteries fail before it's located, finding it could be next to impossible.
Angus Houston, the coordinator of the Australian search effort, said April 9 that he is now 'optimistic' they will find the plane's resting place in the not-too-distant future.
