Tanks rolled through Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989, crushing the hope of Chinese democracy just as it was beginning to flower. An entire generation of young Chinese is now oblivious to the June 4th massacre.

In order to pull off one of the greatest cover ups in history, the CCP gave the masses economic liberalization instead of political reforms and development. This was also done in order to keep hand concentrated in the hands of the CCP.

Twenty-five years later, things remain unchanged. Xi Jinping has introduced broad economic reform, but the CCP still regularly tosses critics in prison, squashes independent social movements and has intensified online censorship.

As Chinese grow to be some of the richest people in the world, will they be satisfied with just economic freedom? What will happen to the Party once young China finally opens up its eyes?
