A high school teacher in Taiwan's southern city, Kaohsiung, stands accused of bullying a student with Asperger Syndrome, placing him at a seat next to the trash can, and asking him to enter the classroom via the backdoor.

When the student tried to enter from the front door, other students would block him with wooden boards, injuring him in the process. He was also threatened and called names by other classmates. He sought help from his teacher who, reportedly, only waved him away and dismissed his complaints.

On one occasion he was physically attacked by students from another class. When the teacher saw his shirt, which had been ripped in the attack, he forbid him from going to other classes and scolded him in the school hallway in front of other students.

The student's parents said he has been so distressed by the abuse that he cannot bring himself to enter his classroom.

The accused teacher, however, denies the bullying claims, and said each student in the class take turn sitting in the seat next to the trash can.

As to the pupil's claim that he was asked to take the back door, the teacher said it was to avoid confrontation between the students and the others. According to the teacher, the seventh grader does not get along well with his peers.

He said he is willing to apologize to the student, but claimed he was just trying to help.

In response to the alleged bullying, the school has pledged to put together a committee to discuss possible solutions to it.
