North Korea fired two missiles early Wednesday, before U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met his Chinese counterparts at the annual US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Beijing.

South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported that two missiles were fired from an air base in the western Hwanghae province in North Korea on Wednesday.

At 4:00 a.m., an assumed to be scud-type missile was launched and fell into the East Sea without causing any damage.

Twenty minutes later, another scud missile was fired from the same location.

The launch could have brought disastrous consequences, as North Korea did not set a no-fly, no-sail zone before its launch.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the launch was the first time North Korea tested their missiles at a landlocked location in almost 20 years.

North Korea has fired missiles 13 times this year, with four tests taking place in the past two weeks.

North Korea's recent frequent missile launches may be in protest of South Korea, China and the United States. Last week, Xi Jinping visited South Korea, the first Chinese president to visit Seoul before Pyongyang. North Korea has also been frustrated with US-South Korea military drills, which it sees as a threat to its regime.
