One person was killed after a gunman opened fire inside a Tennessee armory and fled the scene on Wednesday (July 9).
According to WKRN-TV, the shooting took place around 4:00 p.m. inside the National Guard Armory located in Lobelville at Highway 13 and Highway 438. A gunman opened fire inside a building several times, striking a male victim at least once. The victim has been identified as a sergeant in the National Guard. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was airlifted to a hospital where he later died.
Authorities used a helicopter to search for the suspect and cleared areas of the National Guard facility and vehicles to ensure he was no longer on the property. A person of interest was taken into custody around 9:00 p.m., reported WKRN-TV. However, no charges have been filed.
