A hot air balloon got caught in power lines, while attempting to land in a Massachusetts neighborhood around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday—two explosions ensued.
Onlookers in Clinton began recording footage of the balloon as it passed by overhead near Greeley and Brook Street. The pilot attempted to land the hot air balloon in the residential neighborhood by pulling the valve cord and releasing hot air from the parachute valve.
The balloon was coming in too low and got caught in the power lines. The cell phone video shows two explosions. The first explosion caused all five people on board to suffer minor burns. A second explosion resulted in a temporary power outage for nearly 600 residents.
The FAA says it will open an investigation into the incident. Power lines are the number one cause of serious ballooning accidents.
