A 1000-foot slip ’n slide is coming to downtown Los Angeles this fall, much to the dismay of many of the cities eco-conscious residents.
The Slide the City project has faced significant backlash since it was announced, as numerous local residents and government officials object to wasting water during what has been deemed the worst drought in California history.
On Friday, event organizers and city officials seem to have reached a compromise.
Under the agreement, organizers will transport all the water used at the one day event, to Griffith Park.
The event is slated for 11 a.m. Sunday, September 28. Tickets are $15 for a single ride and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to generosity.org, a nonprofit that builds wells in Third World countries where there is a scarcity of clean drinking water.
