A Missoula, Montana man posted a picture along with the caption “Two wolves out of the equation ... and it was all an accident. I love it when things go good,” to his Facebook page, prompting officials from the state’s Department of Fish and Wildlife Protection to investigate whether or not his tale of running down two wolf pups was true or not.
Tony Bridge was allegedly driving along a stretch of Interstate 90 near the Idaho/Montana border when he came upon two elk crossing the highway. As he slowed to avoid hitting the animals, suddenly two wolves that were hunting the elk came into view. That’s when he sped up and hit both of them, killing one instantly and breaking the other pup’s leg.
Bridges is a self-described “sportsman against wolves,” according to his website. He advocates the killing of wolves in the North-Central U.S. because wolves kill big game animals such as elk, deer and moose.
