New York State Police arrested Charlene Mess, 48, on Tuesday in connection to the murder of her husband, 52-year-old Douglas Mess.

When Douglas failed to show up for work, his son called police to report he was missing. The man told police no one had seen Douglas since Sunday evening, according to a statement Officer Victor Morales gave the Daily News.

Search teams scoured the area in Wyoming County on Monday.

A trooper eventually found Douglas buried in a pile of manure at the back of the couple’s farm on Exchange Street Road in Attica.

Morales said Charlene faces charges of second-degree murder.

The couple had been married 30 years, according to the Associated Press. Police did not immediately release details about cause of death or motive.

As of Wednesday, Charlene was being held in the town of Warsaw, Wyoming County without bail.
