Science teacher Samuel Dufner wanted to add a little zing to his science class last week, but he probably went too far when he used a Tesla coil on his students' skin. What this looney was trying to demonstrate, who knows.

Dufner manipulated the coil in order to burn "I Heart Mom" on several of his students' arms.

After an angry parent heard about the experiment, they contacted local authorities. Police launched an investigation into the incident and later arrested Dufner.The school district has put Dufner on leave and he has been released from jail after posting $2,000 bail.

Salem Police Department spokesman Steve Birr says that the students' burns weren't too bad, although one student's arm is a little swollen and red.
