Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez recently made the claim that his country had reduced migration to the United States by 75%. Yet many groups that track emigration refute those claims, and several organizations that work with very poor children said that just the opposite is true. A representative of Casa Alianza said that the expulsion of boys and girls is growing. They said that this year they have already received more deported children from Mexico than in 2014, and this means that there is an increase in migration. A representative of other children’s groups said that “if this were true, we would be celebrating such an advance.” They have seen no information to back up the government’s claim, however. Gerardo Torres reports from Central America for teleSUR.
