A 32-year-old woman is dead after a collision with another vehicle near High Point, North Carolina. Courtney Sanford posted a status update to Facebook referencing Pharrell Williams hit song Happy, just seconds before her fatal crash.
Sanford was driving alone on Business Route 85 while taking selfies and posting to Facebook Thursday morning. She posted a status update at 8:33 a.m. that read, "The happy song makes me HAPPY." Seconds later, her vehicle crossed the median into oncoming traffic and slammed head on into a recycling truck driven by John Wallace Thompson.
Both vehicles went off the road. The truck hit some trees and the car ended up in a ditch where it caught fire. 911 dispatchers received a call reporting the crash at 8:34 a.m.
Thompson was not injured, but Sanford died at the scene.
