Mixed martial arts fighter Jon 'Bones' Jones is facing misdemeanor hit-and-run charges after a traffic accident on the morning of April 26th. Albuquerque police say the person Jones allegedly hit was a pregnant woman in her 20s. Luckily, her injuries were non-life threatening.

The fighter has an impressive record: 21 wins and just one loss by disqualification. In 2011 he became the youngest champion in UFC history, but Sunday's hit-and-run is just the latest in a string of missteps for the young fighter who tested positive for cocaine on January 3 in Las Vegas.

Jones, 27, went to rehab but denied having serious drug problems. He was fined $25,000 but was allowed to pursue the defense of his title scheduled for May 23, 2015. Last summer, Jones got into a public scuffle with another fighter at a press conference and was fined $50,000 and sentenced to 40 hours of community service. Back in 2012 he got off with just a misdemeanor DWI charge after wrapping his Bentley around a telephone pole in New York.

Does it seems strange to you that a person who has had so many run-ins with the law is only facing a misdemeanor for this latest alleged hit-and-run incident. Are authorities just following the law or are there a separate set of laws for star athletes? What's your call?
