The Saint Lucia government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Taiwan International Corporation and Development Fund to provide island-wide wireless internet access. A total of 17 Wi-Fi spots will be established in five districts. A major goal will be to improve internet availability in rural and low-income areas. The goal of the project, which will run from 2015 to 2018, is to increase internet penetration from 11% to 30%. With the implementation of complementary programs, the government hopes to raise the level to 50% during the same time period. Alison Kentish reports from Saint Lucia for teleSUR
