Argentine President Cristina Fernandez continues her two-day visit to Russia. On Wednesday she met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and local business leaders. Fernandez announced that 20 new bilateral agreements would be signed by Friday in fields such as nuclear energy, in which a new nuclear plant will be built in Argentina with Russian investment. Trade between the two countries currently tops US$2.4 billion yearly. Fernandez' visit coincides with the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moscow and Buenos Aires. While in Moscow, Fernandez thanked Russia for supporting Argentina in its conflict with Great Britain over the Malvinas Islands and in its dispute with the United States over vulture funds.
