Almost 100 people have been rescued from floodwaters over three days of cyclonic storms on Australia’s east coast.
Three people were found dead on Tuesday; three others are reportedly missing.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned of a second storm cell gathering north of Sydney.
A natural disaster will, undoubtedly, be declared, according to New South Wales premier, Mike Baird.
“In terms of the weather pattern, it’s still very dangerous. We are seeing a continuation of the wind, rain, flash flooding and while it is still dangerous the positive is, there is some easing. But we still have a lot to get through in the next 48 hours,” he said on Wednesday (April 22).
The storms have wreaked havoc:
some 200,000 homes are still without power; trees have been uprooted and cars washed away.
Emergency service officials say they’ve received nearly 9,000 calls for help.
Conditions are expected to ease by Saturday (April 25).
