Two men in Louisiana trudged a half a mile through a swamp to save a stranded dog.

Swamps are dense, murky places and traveling through one on foot can be a difficult and exhausting task.

Two men in Louisiana did just that, and the reason for their soggy, half-mile journey was to save a stranded dog. 

The rescue duo was comprised of a state trooper and a person who works for a swamp touring company. 

Both were notified of the situation after a passing motorist called in a report about a dog seen lying in the mire beneath a bridge. 

Once the two got close to the canine, they noticed that he had an injured leg and that his body was covered in puncture marks.
