Drew Barker's teammates weren't protecting his blind side.
The Kentucky quarterback was floored by a sucker punch, apparently the final blow from a night-long ruckus that started at a local bar and carried over into an Eastern Kentucky University dormitory.
According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, EKU’s Colton Scurry took the first swing in a bar fight on Jan. 25 that also involved players from UK. Scurry suffered a broken nose in the brawl.
Dorian Baker and Scurry were the main players in the fight at the club — Jerzee’s Cocktail Lounge & Dance Club — with Barker and Tymere Dubose getting into the act as well. Barker struck Scurry twice and Dubose told cops that “he struck Scurry several times” and “did recall elbowing Scurry during the fight,” the Herald-Leader reported, citing police reports.
Scurry was treated at a local hospital and Barker, Baker and Dubose then made their way to the Eastern Kentucky University campus along with a female student who attends the school.
While there, Baker was clocked by Scurry’s teammate — and Kentucky transfer — EKU linebacker Patrick Graffree at the Telford residence hall. The punch was captured on surveillance video and released by the school on Tuesday.
All four of the people involved in the bar brawl — Scurry, Barker, Baker and Dubose — escaped charges as a grand jury in Madison County, Ken., declined to indict them. Graffree wasn’t charged for his role in round two of the fight. Niether university responded to a request for comment asking if they would discipline the players in some way.
The intrastate rivals will play in Lexington on Oct. 3.
