A western Australian man is no doubt recovering from shock after discovering that a spider had, unbeknownst to him, spent a full three days underneath his skin.

Dylan Thomas, 21, was no doubt having the time of his life during his recent trip to Bali, Indonesia, but mid-way through the holiday took a freakish turn.

After a good night’s sleep in a four and a half star hotel room, the tourist awoke to find a two-inch long red trail from his navel to his stomach.

The trail steadily grew in length and the following day, a concerned Thomas visited a doctor who attributed it to a minor insect bite and gave him antihistamine cream.

The medicine didn't work and when the trail began to blister and hurt like hell Thomas rushed to the nearest dermatologist, who discovered the Aussie was suffering from every arachnophobe’s worst nightmare.

A small spider had managed to burrow its way through scar tissue caused by an appendectomy Thomas had recently undergone.

After all was said and done, the Aussie asked if he could keep the dead spider, but the doctor sent it away for further testing.

Thomas says that while he feels ‘violated’ by the little creature, he definitely won’t rule out another trip to Bali.
