Occupy Central Update: Police arrest pro-democracy protesters after 2 month occupation

On Wednesday, Hong Kong police and authorities began to clear the protest site occupied for 2 months by the pro-democracy Umbrella Movement.

They also arrested the unofficial leaders of the protest, Joshua Wong and Lester Shum, as well as 80 other protesters who refused to leave. Protesters gave no resistance as police pushed them to the ground and handcuffed them, some protesters were bloodied and bruised.

The three primary areas occupied by protesters were Admiralty, Mong Kok and Causeway Bay.

The protester’s tents and roadblocks were dismantled by police and volunteers after protesters were arrested or pushed out of the occupied areas.
