Public baths in China are traditionally all nude, and gender segregated, but in Anhui province, a woman took her 5-year-old son into the women’s public bath house.
The other women in the bath house were upset about it and tried to explain to the mother she couldn’t have her son with her. Many of the women felt uncomfortable, even though the child was so young.
The mother told the other women that if they didn’t like it they could leave the bath house.
One woman went to speak with the staff and the staff member asked the the mother how older her son was.
The mother said her son was five.
The staff member explained that children over the age of three were not allowed to go to the opposite gender’s bathing sections.
The mother then said that her son was only three.
So that staff member gave up.
One of the women, not ready to give up so easily, took a photo of the mother and her son while they were bathing and uploaded it to the Internet to complain about the mother not following the bath house rules.
Unfortunately, this woman was also breaking rules as cameras are not allowed inside the bath house and the photo is actually a breach of the mother’s privacy and punishable by law.
