“Homeless” girl in central China kidnaps toddler for Internet Cafe sleepover session

Chinese police located a 5-year-old girl nicknamed QiQi after she went missing in central Sichuan province for nearly a day.
QiQi had suddenly vanished from a restaurant where the rest of her family was having dinner. Her grandmother mentioned she’d last seen the youngster playing with another girl in a red jacket.
When questioned by police after the tracked her down, QiQi explained that the other girl, three years her senior, had taken her to a store to look at toys, taken her horse riding and then bought her fried chicken. The two had spent the night in a 24-hour internet cafe before police found QiQi early the next morning.
The young ‘kidnapper’, nicknamed Xiao Yu, was apparently well known among residents of the area and had earned a reputation as ‘that homeless girl’. She reportedly often skipped school and rather than return home, preferred to wander the streets and play.
According to local reports, the incident wasn’t the only where Xiao Yu had “kidnapped” a younger girl and kept her as a her playmate.
Xiao Yu had once even been caught shoplifting and when police came to pick her up she cried and said she wanted to go home, although as soon as police were out of sight she reportedly took off to the streets again.
Police said they will be working with local social services to help improve Xiao Yu’s family situation.
Apparently the first step is to find a job for Xiao Yu’s father. Second, they need to locate a free public school for Xiao Yu to attend. Third, social services need to work with Xiao Yu’s father to ensure she’s escorted to and from school at the end of each day. And if daddy’s not at home, Xiao Yu is to be sent to a free activities center until her father’s ready to collect her.
A great deal of effort to make sure this young offender doesn’t “abduct” any more children.
