An excessive force lawsuit filed in Georgia claims an officer assaulted and slammed a pregnant woman on the ground, causing her to lose her baby because he did not like her tone of voice.

According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred when Kenya Harris’ adolescent son was arrested in Albany for unspecified charges.

After waiting patiently for five hours at the Albany Police Department, Harris says she insisted she needed to leave to tend to her other children.

According to Courthouse News, the “Defendant Officer Jenkins stated that he did not
did not appreciate the tone in which she was communicating with him, and further stated that if she continued he would take her head and 'put it to the floor.”
When Harris tried to again explain that she needed to leave, Jenkins followed through on his threat.
Courthouse news states, "Defendant Officer Jenkins, without provocation, grabbed plaintiff, who weighs less than one hundred twenty (120) pounds, by her neck and slammed her to the ground.
Plaintiff momentarily blacked out and came to with defendant Officer Jenkins sitting on her back, and with his knee on her arm. Plaintiff was pregnant at the time."
Harris was then held in Dougherty County Jail for a night and was denied medical attention after begging to see a doctor.

When she was released the next day, Harris learned at an area clinic, she had miscarried her baby.

Harris is seeking $50,000 in punitive damages, arguing that the officer caused her severe physical harm and the loss of her child which was completely unnecessary.
