A CSX train carrying North Dakota crude oil to Yorktown, Virginia derailed on Monday at 1:20 p.m., prompting the evacuation of two nearby towns.

Fayette County 911 Coordinator James Bennett told Reuters that the 109-car train derailed at 1:20 p.m. EST about 33 miles (54 km) southeast of Charleston, the state capital.

At least 14 cars were ignited or exploded after the crash, and at least one car fell into the Kanawha River.

About 200 residents of Adena Village and Boomer Bottom were evacuated after a house caught on fire.

Nearby water treatment plants have been shut down for fear of oil contamination.

According to Reuters, CSX said one person was being treated for fume inhalation. No other injuries or deaths have been reported.

This is the second significant oil-tanker train accident in just three days. Fayette County fire coordinator Joe Crist told Reuters that the accident could take several days to clean up as officials wait for the fires to burn themselves out.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
