Three people were killed and four hurt during an apparent drive-by shooting at a corner store in northern California on Tuesday night (March 17), police said.
Stockton Police Department spokesman Joe Silva said police received a call about the shooting around 8:20 p.m. local time. When officers arrived at the Madison Market in the 700 block of North Madison Street, they found seven gunshot victims. A 27-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other six victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
According to the department's Facebook page, two more victims died at the hospital, a 24-year-old man and a 20 year old woman. The remaining victims, a 38-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, a 25-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man are still at area hospitals and it appears they will survive their injuries.
Silva said that the department had sent homicide and gang investigators to the scene, as the area was a known hotspot for gang activity.
