The Ecuadoran government is proposing a series of new organic tax and fiscal laws and regulations. It is hoped that the new laws will improve tax efficiency, enable individuals and businesses to cancel outstanding fiscal debts, and boost collection levels by US$2 billion. Fiscal liabilities paid within 60 and 90 days will be subject to strong discounts to encourage payments. Liz Scherffius reports from Quito.
