In the past few days, Argentine President Cristina Fernandez announced several economic measures designed to improve the economy -despite the lingering effects of the international financial crisis- and the lives of the poorer sectors of the population. Among the measures are a US$45 million investment to improve electricity infrastructure in underprivileged neighbors, a program to enable poor families to renew their electrical appliances, capital loans for the self-employed, and increased access to natural gas for those lacking the service.
