Bomb threat forces Turkish Airlines plane to divert from Sao Paulo to Casablanca

A Turkish Airlines flight en route to from Turkey to Brazil was diverted and landed in Casablanca, Morocco after a bomb threat in the second such incident in two days.

Flight TK15 had departed from Istanbul with 256 passengers and was flying to Sao Paulo when it declared an emergency and diverted to Casablanca after a note bearing the word "bomb" was found in a lavatory, a spokeswoman for the airline told Reuters.

The Boeing 777 landed in Casablanca at 12:30 p.m. local time. AFP reported that passengers were immediately evacuated upon landing, and a search for explosives was immediately launched.

No explosives were found and the plane was cleared to resume its flight.

On Sunday a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Tokyo returned to Istanbul shortly after takeoff when a note that read "C4 Cargo" was found on the lavatory door. C4 is a type of plastic explosives.

No explosives were found on that plane either.
