Germanwings Airbus carrying 150 crashes in French Alps

A passenger plane operated by Germanwings, a subsidiary of German airline Lufthansa has crashed in the southern French Alps. All 148 people onboard are feared dead.

The French president said he fears that none of those onboard the Airbus A-320 survived the crash. Speaking shortly after the plane went down, Francois Hollande said debris from the plane had been found and that the mountainous region was hard to access. He also said the pilot had sent out a distress signal ahead of the incident, adding that it was too early to say what caused the crash. According to initial reports, 142 passengers and six crew members were onboard the flight en rout from Barcelona in Spain to the German city of Dusseldorf.
