Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, congratulated the Iranian people on the occasion of spring and the Iranian New Year wishing them a year full of success against the ruling religious fascism. She noted: Surely, it will not be long before obsolescence and darkness of velayat-e faqih system will be wiped away from Iran and the spring of freedom, popular sovereignty, equality and justice will prevail.
Rajavi said: For 37 years, through torture and massacre, mullahs have taken hostage the real Nowruz of the Iranian people, but despite the raining down of executions, arrests and persistent terror during these years, the Iranian people have not surrendered. They have persistently demonstrated their will to overthrow this regime. In the past year, through 5700 strikes, sit-ins and protests, including protests by teachers and nurses, by factory workers in various industries, by people of Esfahan against splashing of acid on women, by people of Ahwaz against the drying up of Karun River, by people against the catastrophic state of air pollution in various cities, the Iranian people have continued to emphasize on the negation of the regime in its entirety.
During the Fire Festival the youth in Tehran and Esfahan set pictures of Khomeini and Khamenei on fire and political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison chanted “Death to the dictator”.
A few days prior, in Khorramshahr, a young man by the name of Younes set himself on fire in protest to the oppression and tyranny that had ruined his life. During the soccer match, the young spectators in Ahwaz were shouting, “We are all Younes”.
President-elect of the Iranian Resistance praised the great resistance of the political prisoners and stated: During the past year, thousands upon thousands of prisoners staged 226 hunger strikes. PMOI prisoners, Sunni prisoners, Kurdish prisoners, Gonabadi Dervish prisoners, Christian prisoners, as well as other courageous prisoners of every belief, were united in their protests against the velayat-e faqih regime.
Mrs. Rajavi stated that during the past year, the nuclear program that was to guarantee the survival of the regime turned into its noose. The great schism at the top, the disintegration of the economy, and the catastrophic spread of bribery and criminal activity engulfed the regime. She stressed: To summarize, the velayat-e faqih regime cannot escape from the Iranian nation and resistance no matter which direction it goes and whatever policy it adopts.
