Pope Francis is predicting that he won’t be pope for long.
He has been speaking on the second anniversary of his election.
Francis has previously mentioned that he does not dislike being pope, but does miss his freedom.
In a television interview, he has said that he could be gone in just a few years time.
“I have the feeling that my pontificate will be brief: four or five years, I don’t know. Or two or three. Well, two have already passed,” said Francis.
“I have the feeling that God has put me here for something brief, but that’s only a feeling.”
The faithful in St Peter’s Square have been giving their views about Francis’ papacy.
“I don’t think he’s going to die soon,” said one woman.
“Pope Francis will last years,” a man adds, “because he is in good health.”
Another woman said: “He is a really popular person, and I think that’s good. I hope that the next Pope or anybody goes on with the things he does.”
