Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny has been freed from jail after 15 days.

He has been released after serving a sentence for handing out leaflets to promote a Moscow protest rally.

This just a week after the murder of Russian opposition figure Boris Nemtsov.

“Our activity will not change in any way,” Navalny told reporters. “We will not lessen our efforts, we will not change anything, and in this sense, the act of terror that took place will not achieve its aims.

“I am sure that it will not frighten anyone. It has not frightened me and it has not frightened my comrades.”

The protest rally that Navalny was promoting turned into a memorial march for Nemtsov, who was shot four times by a gunman near the Kremlin.

Navalny, who is also serving another suspended jail term, was refused permission to attend Nemtsov’s funeral.
