"Battered but OK" - Harrison Ford recovers after crashing vintage plane

Colleagues of the US film star Harrison Ford say his injuries in a light plane crash are not life-threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery.

The Star Wars actor crashed his vintage plane on a golf course in Los Angeles after engine trouble on take-off.

Ford’s son confirmed via twitter that his father was taken to hospital.

The tweet said: “Dad is OK. Battered but OK! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.”

The single-engine plane reportedly clipped a tree as Ford attempted to return to the airport.

Nearby resident Carlos Gomez told reporters: “I was inside the house when I heard the big noise, and then I started hearing the ambulance.

“When I came outside, that’s when I saw the guy and the airplane. But some people in the park were helping the guy, pulling him out of the plane.”

72-year-old Ford was reported to be “alert and talking” when he was taken to hospital.
