United States troops have already begun to arrive in Peru, and 3,000 more are on the way. Peru's Congress approved a series of expeditions during 2015, including an increase of 4,000 military personnel along with 90 airplanes and helicopters. Critics charge that the beefed up military presence comes at a time when the United States is trying to undermine certain democratically elected presidents in Latin America.
