Memorial for murdered Sherpa

A memorial fund has been set up to support the young family of Sona Sherpa, a Sirdar and Climbing Sherpa with Doug Scott's Community Action Treks, who tragically lost his life at Nanga Parbat base camp, Pakistan.

Sona was one of ten climbers from an international climbing party shot by Taliban militants on the evening of Saturday 22 June. He leaves a wife, Doma, and two young children.

New 8a? next to Digital Crack, Mont Blanc

On 16 July 2013 Nicolas Potard and Victor Estrangin made the first and second ascent of Arête Cosmiques 8a, a new route on the Grande Gendarme, Arête des Cosmiques, Mont Blanc.

The new route - almost identical in name but completely different in style - climbs the pristine granite arête to the right of Digital Crack.
