Despite having "served their country", veterans of Washington's wars and active-duty servicemen face a myriad of problems when leaving the armed forces. A full 20% of all suicides in the United States involve veterans, 18 to 23 per day. A third of all homeless are veterans, 300,000 people. In today's program, host Jorge Gestoso interviews Michael Marceau, vice president of the Veterans for Peace about, among other issues, military recruitment today, the problems faced by veterans in re-adapting to society, the cases of whistle-blowers Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange, and the progressive foreign policy positions of Veterans for Peace. teleSUR
