Dr. Seth Shostak,the director of California’s Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute, told event participants that it would be beneficial to stop passively listening for messages from other planets and start sending some.
He believes that an active campaign that lets advanced beings out there know that we exist is the path his organization should be pursing at this time.
Concerns about embarking upon such an endeavor have been raised, and a discussion of them is expected to soon commence.
